Description

The Petitioner requests approval of a Special Use Permit pursuant to Section 3.10 of the Savannah Zoning Ordinance to allow for a Hall, Banquet, or Reception Use at 2018 Habersham Street, Unit C-1.  The property is located in the Starland Historic District and is zoned TC-1 (Traditional Commercial -1).

The Petitioner proposes to operate a coffee shop during the day, which is permitted by right.  With the approval of the Special Use Permit, the space would be used for private events held after hours.

This request is being considered in conjunction with a separate Special Use Permit (File No. 26-003978-ZA) to allow on-premises alcohol consumption during catered after-hours events.

 

 

Recommendation

On August 25, 2026, the Planning Commission recommended approval of the Special Use Permit request for a Hall, Banquet, or Reception Use at 2018 Habersham Street, Building C-1, subject to the following conditions:

  1. The Special Use Permit shall be non-transferrable.
  2. The approved use shall be limited to the approximately 1,334 Square foot tenant space Identified as Building C-1.
  3. Any substantial expansion of the venue use, or modification of the operational characteristics reviewed herein shall require review and approval by the City of Savannah.
