This year we experienced an incident with our dump truck, and it was deemed totaled through our insurance provider. We have previously received $71,389 as a claim with our insurance provider, which will be used to lower the total cost of this purchase. The Commission advertised a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for 30 days for the purchase of two (2) dump trucks. The Commission received (2) bids that did not meet the specifications. Due to the nonconformance bids, purchasing shopped through the pre-negotiated cooperative purchasing agreements to locate the dump trucks. Savannah Airport Commission paid a reservation fee of $3,000 for the company to hold the equipment which will be credited toward the overall price of $215,136, bringing the remaining balance to $212,136. The cost to transport the two dump trucks is factored in the cost. Its primary function will be to haul material necessary to assist with maintaining the grounds and landscaping around the airport.  In addition, the dump truck can be used to remove debris from the airfield and surrounding areas in the event of an emergency or a storm-related event.
