Description

This contract is for the procurement of video analytics software from Brief Cam in the amount of $149,072. The primary benefit of this technology is its ability to improve the efficiency of SPD officers and investigators by reviewing hours of video in minutes, and facilitating immediate response to critical situations and changes in the environment being viewed. Brief Cam will simultaneously analyze objects that have appeared at different times within the video. The technology also can analyze and distinguish people, pieces of clothing, vehicle license plates, color, and vehicle make. The platform will assist SPD with case management, which will enhance SPD’s ability to identify, track, and seize people or vehicles associated with criminal activity. This is a sole source procurement because the vendor holds multiple patents in regard to analyzing videos and producing a relevant sorted video summary.

 

This platform also has applications that can be utilized by other city departments. The IT subcommittee has reviewed and approved the purchase and IT compatibility. This ties to the City’s goal of public safety and the reduction of violent crime. The one-time implementation fee for year one will total $149,072. The platform will have an annual maintenance cost of $18,000. per year. Terms: Net 30 days. Delivery: As requested.
