Title 26. Authorize the City Manager to Execute a Contract for Circulatory Transit Services with Chatham Area Transit (LOCAL) in an Amount Not to Exceed $7,227,524. The transit services will provide public transportation within the City of Savannah's downtown area, Carver Village and Cloverdale to encourage public transportation to ease congestion of vehicle traffic. Description This procurement is for a three-year contract for the Public Transportation Circulator Services (The DOT) with Chatham Area Transit in an amount not to exceed $7,227,524 for services until June 2026. The fare-free transit services cover the downtown areas which include the Visitor’s Center, Carver Village, and Cloverdale Community, as well as the Historic District and Thomas Square. The hours of operation are 7:00 a.m. through 7:00 p.m. on weekdays, Saturday 10:00 a.m. through 7:00 p.m., and Sunday 10:00 a.m. through 6:00 p.m. The DOT service is provided to encourage the use of public transportation by workers, residents, and visitors, and to ease the congestion of vehicle traffic and parking demand downtown. For this contract, service frequencies to Carver Village/Cloverdale which started in 2023 will be increased which will lower wait times and further encourage ridership.
The contract term shall be from July 2023 through July 2026.
Payments to Chatham Area Transit over the next three years are as follows: Year 1 - $2,214,692 Year 2 - $2,444,300 Year 3 - $2,568,532
Delivery: As needed. Terms: Net 30 days.
