Title 18. Motion to Reimburse Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation to Remove and Remediate Transite Line
Strategic Priority N/A
Description The Savannah Airport Commission recommends approval to reimburse Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation in the amount of $55,110.00. During removal of topsoil just south of the hangar leased by Gulfstream, the contractor disturbed the unmetered water line running to the hangar facility. The line was only 8 inches below the surface and was not shown on any as-built drawings provided by the Airport or the City. The line ties into a 5-inch Transite (asbestos) line that runs north to south directly under the new building. The invoiced costs to remove and remediate the Transite line is $55,110.00. The land lease agreement between the Commission and SEDA identifies that the Commission is responsible for the costs associated with remediation or other environmental conditions that were present at the onset of the agreement.
