Description

This contract is for the procurement of portable radios from Motorola Solutions in an amount not to exceed $175,560. This contract will be used by the Innovation + Technology Services Department’s Mobile Services to purchase radios for the Savannah Fire Department to replace radios that are aging and have fallen out of production. This purchase helps to ensure that the Fire Department's operations are conducted in the safest manner possible.

The Radio Replacement Fund intends to maintain a level of currency in the Public Safety fleet by replacing a small number of radios yearly. The older radios are then repurposed and reprogrammed for use by the various Public Works departments, so those departments do not need to purchase radios. These 25 radios represent less than 5% of the non-fire Public Safety radios in the City. This is the only portable radio series that supports Motorola’s enhanced data which is used to geo-locate officers by utilizing the radio’s built-in GPS receiver and are the only radios that can be programmed remotely via Motorola’s over-the-air program.

Per section 2-4154 of the City’s Purchasing Ordinance, the City may purchase goods or services through the use of a cooperative purchasing agreement. The contract used for this procurement is a Sourcewell contract #36273-SOURCEWELL 042021-MOT for Public Safety Communications and expires on June 23, 2025. Delivery: As requested. Terms: Net 30 days.
