Strategic Priority
GOAL 4:  Develop World Class Livable Environment & Infrastructure
Description

This Annual Sole Source Contract is for Sewer Lift Station Parts and Pumps with Xylem, Inc. USA in an Amount Not to Exceed $2,200,000.00. This contract will be for Flygt pumping equipment, pumps, component parts, and related materials necessary to maintain the City's sewer lift stations. It also provides Water Resources with continued access to critical Flygt equipment and replacement components needed for scheduled maintenance, repairs, and emergency response. The contract will help ensure that lift stations remain operational and capable of continuously conveying wastewater to the City's Water Reclamation Plants.

The City's lift stations are critical assets within the wastewater conveyance system. Continued availability of pumps and replacement components is necessary to minimize equipment downtime, prevent lift station failures, and reduce the risk of sanitary sewer overflows and sewage spills. If these efficiencies are not met, health and public safety are put at risk, and possible violations of the State Clean-Water Act, the City’s State NPDES (National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System) permit, which could also result in State EPD (Environmental Protection Division) or Federal EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) Consent Orders or Decrees.

Authorization of this contract will allow Water Resources to maintain the reliability and operational integrity of the City's sewer conveyance system and ensure the continued protection of public health and the environment.  This is a sole source contract because Xylem, Inc. USA is the only vendor to provide the Flygt Pumps and Parts for the City's Lift Stations.
