Description This contract is to procure 165 Pro-Gard single gun racks from West Chatham Warning Devices in the amount of $104,404. In response to the national increase in active shooter incidents and associated threats, SPD has expanded its patrol rifle program to ensure officers carry adequate responsive weaponry. This requires that officers have efficient access to patrol rifles within their assigned vehicles. To date, officers have stored rifles in patrol vehicle trunks to maximize secure storage. The downside of this is that typically the more secure the weapon is, the longer it takes to retrieve. Since rifles are only utilized during times of imminent threat, every second counts and can materially affect outcomes. While weapons must be secured against theft, they should be immediately accessible in times of need, stored out of sight, and never left in a vehicle when an officer is not on duty. Pro-gard offers front-seat rifle racks, which will facilitate accessibility while allowing for secured rifle storage. SPD proposes to procure and install 165 of the racks to outfit all current and new patrol vehicles entering the fleet.
