Title 54. Motion to Adopt a Resolution Authorizing the City Manager to Delegate the Execution of Cemetery Interment Rights and Perpetual Care Agreements
Strategic Priority Good Government
Description The City Charter (section 3-110) vests the authority and power to make and execute contracts to the City Manager. The City Manager considers the ability to delegate certain administrative functions vested by the Charter in the City Manager to executive level staff necessary and expedient to the administration of City affairs. The City Manager requests that the Mayor and Aldermen authorize the City Manager to delegate the ability to execute cemetery interment rights and perpetual care agreements to the Director of Real Estate Services as he deems necessary and expedient. It is in the professional opinion of the City Manager that approving this resolution is in the best interest of the Citizens of Savannah in order to insure fluid operations of the City. This resolution also aligns with an adopted priority of Council (Good Government), and more specifically the goal of efficient government operations. The adoption of this resolution provides the Mayor and Aldermen the right to revoke the delegation authority upon written notice to the City Manager. The resolution also will automatically expire, without further action by the Mayor and Aldermen, upon the current City Manager’s death, resignation, termination, or incapacitation.
