Recommend approval of Contract Modification No. 7 for the Bilbo Canal consultant agreement to Thomas & Hutton Engineering Co. in the amount of $708,498.This amendment to the original Engineering Agreement with Thomas & Hutton, includes additional work by the consultant to review and determine solutions to a number of construction related issues associated with the construction of the Bilbo Canal.  In addition, the necessarily extended construction time required additional meetings, project administration, and extend engineering field support including inspections.  The amendment also includes the additional project adminstration and inspection of the final retrofit work to the stablize the riverwalk and tidegate bridge ramp with the canal structure.

The original contract was for engineering services associated with the design, permitting, and surveying for the Bilbo Canal drainage improvements project.  This contract amendment is needed to include additional services including monitoring, surveying, and reporting observations along the Savannah River Landing portion of the existing Riverwalk. These services are needed to inspect for possible movement of the structure relating to the ongoing adjacent Bilbo Canal improvements construction project. The original contract was approved by Council on October 23, 2008 in the amount of $271,000. The total amount of this contract to date, including this amendment, is $1,312,918.

Approval
