Description

This is for One (1) Year Contract Renewal for One Ton Chlorine Cylinders with JCI Jones Chemical Inc. in an Amount Not to Exceed $487,500.00.

Chlorine is used at the I & D Water Plant as an integral part of the water treatment process to disinfect drinking water by removing and preventing microbiological contamination throughout the distribution system. Since 1947, chlorine has been used for the disinfection of safe drinking water by reducing microbial contamination. Failure to disinfect the water will result in potential disease risk to the exposed population, contamination for irrigation purposes, streams, and consumption from the tap and the Chlorine ensures safe drinking water is provided to City of Savannah citizens, I & D wholesale customers in Effingham County, Pooler, Port Wentworth, Garden City and industrial customers. Estimated quantity of 195 tons for this One (1) Year Contract Renewal is based on varying water quality and customer demands.
