Title
11. Approval to Amend the City of Savannah Parking Ordinance for Implementation of the Parking Matters Study Plan Establishing New Parking Districts from Midtown to Victory Drive and Unifying Parking Districts Currently Separated at Liberty Street. (Mobility & Parking Services)
Strategic Priority
GOAL 6:  Always Be a High-Performing Government
Description

This ordinance amendment represents the culmination of an 18-month planning process undertaken through the Parking Matters Plan, during which staff incorporated the concerns and recommendations of surrounding neighborhood associations, trade and business associations, the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), and other community stakeholders. The amendment establishes new parking districts covering the corridor from Midtown to Victory Drive and consolidates the parking districts that are currently split at Liberty Street into a unified district, addressing longstanding inconsistencies in enforcement and permitting process across the boundary.

Implementation of the approved changes will occur over more than one year, allowing for phased signage installation, permitting system adjustments, and public outreach. Staff will continue working directly with affected neighborhoods, businesses, and institutions throughout the implementation period to address concerns as they arise and ensure a smooth transition to the new district structure.
