Description Recommend approval to award a construction contract for the Hudson Hill Community Center building to Paul S. Akins Company, Inc. in the amount of $2,774,827. Due to all bids being above the budgeted amount for this project, the City worked with the low bidder to value engineer the project and bring it in line with the approved budget. No significant changes to scope were made as a result of the value engineering effort. Section 2-4061 states: The city manager is authorized, when time or economic considerations preclude re-solicitation of work of a reduced scope, to negotiate an adjustment of the bid price with the low responsive and responsible bidder, in order to bring the bid within the amount of available funds. 1. The recommended primary proposer submitted DBE/LDBE participation at the subcontractor level in the amount of 4.9% using Henry Plumbing (1209 E 59th St. Savanna, GA), (M/WBE Certified), 4.7% using JT Maddox (1904 Delesseps Ave. Savannah, GA), (GDOT), 1.2% using Mastercraft Flooring (GA), (M/WBE Certified) 9.3% using Raymond Electrical (15762 Burkhalter Rd, Statesboro, GA), (SBA Certified). | |
