Description

Notification of the emergency procurement of two engine replacements from Donnelly Yachts in the amount of $186,729. ($81,729 from the General fund and $105,000 from Other Federal Grants).

The Fire Department used the services to replace two engines that were damaged as a result of the vessel being out of service since late 2018. Mechanical issues were discovered that were in part caused by an extended period of down time. Water Scale and blockages were allowed to form in the heat exchangers, water coolers and fuel coolers which led to restricted cooling capacity of the engines. The reduced cooling of the engines in turn led to mechanical failures such as cracks in the head, scored cylinders and exhaust issues, and failure of the fuel and heat exchangers. Replacement of the two engines was necessary to correct these issues.
