Title
5. A Proclamation Recognizing October as National Community Planning Month.
Strategic Priority
Good Government
Description

As we approach the 300th anniversary of the founding of the City of Savannah, we also celebrate October as National Community Planning Month.

The City has a history of planning beginning with the Town Plan established by General James Oglethorpe in 1733, which has flourished for centuries and continues to evolve making Savannah one of the most unique places in all of North America renowned for its beauty, simplicity and walkability.  Planners strive to improve the well-being of all persons residing in Savannah by taking a comprehensive approach to challenging issues impacting the community.  Through planning, the City leads to safer, resilient, more equitable, and more prosperous communities.

Let us also celebrate October as National Community Planning Month and the role that planning plays in creating great communities like Savannah.
