Title
31. Authorize the City Manager to Execute an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Board of Education for Placement of Playgrounds on Three Board Properties.
Strategic Priority
Good Government
Description

The Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Savannah (City) and the Board of Public Education (Board) have a long and successful history of leveraging access to and use of each other’s assets to provide the maximum benefits available to citizens at the lowest possible expenditure of public funds and resources. The Board owns certain real estate within the City of Savannah, including lands improved with Haven Elementary School, Brock Elementary School, and Hubert Middle School. Pursuant to a prior agreement now expired, the City installed, operated, and maintained public playgrounds on these properties. The City is seeking to replace the existing equipment with new, modern, and enhanced playgrounds to benefit neighboring children and families. The purpose of this Agreement is to continue the mutually beneficial working relationship between the Parties for a shared-use relationship of a portion of these properties for the installation, use, and maintenance of the new playground equipment. This is a revenue neutral agreement with no cash exchanging between the parties.
