| Title 23. Authorize the City Manager to Execute a Contract with Forge Fire & Company LLC for the Manufacture and Installation of a Modular Container-Assembly Structure with Props to be used for Fire Training in the Amount of $1,690,605. (Fire Services) | |
| Strategic Priority GOAL 6: Always Be a High-Performing Government | |
| Description This contract with Forge Fire is to manufacture and install a new five-story fire training structure in the amount of $1,690,605. This structure will replace the former burn building and training tower that was no longer safe or serviceable due to non-remediable structural issues and was thus demolished in 2025. The new fire training structure will be erected at the same location as the former buildings at the exercise area of the Savannah Fire Academy site at 280 Agonic Road.
The customized engineered structure will consist of structurally supported and connected shipping containers, modified to include stairways, windows, and doors, and to accommodate props to serve various fire training exercises, simulations, and scenarios such as live burns, rappelling, and forced access penetrations in accordance with applicable National Fire Protection Association requirements. This investment aims to restore proper training facilities, ensure firefighter readiness, and maintain public safety. Without this improvement, the department risks losing certification and the ability to deliver effective emergency response. | |
