| Description The Eastside Gym project is a strategic addition to the City of Savannah's PARC facility, a two-story, 18,960-square-foot community center that opened in July 2019. The GMP amendment will allow for the construction of an 11,000-square-foot gymnasium addition to the existing PARC facility. In addition to the gymnasium, the building shall include the following components: two unisex locker rooms, men’s and women’s restrooms, lobby, snack bar, janitorial closet, two storage closets, office, IT closet, mechanical room, and equipment storage. The design was based on the Grant Center gym with necessary modifications to accommodate the specific requirements of the PARC site. The addition will be constructed in the green space on the west side of PARC located at 425 Pennsylvania Avenue and will require modifications to the existing building and site to ensure integration. The scope of work also includes the construction of additional parking to the west of PARC on a City-owned parcel.
The request for Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) services was advertised, and eight proposals were received. The proposals were reviewed for qualifications, experience, methodology, references, and fee. The top five firms were interviewed by the City, and the firms were re-scored. The highest scoring firm, West Construction Company, was contracted for pre-construction services for the amount of $10,000, which was approved by the City Manager under his contracting authority. | |
