Title 17. Notification of Emergency Procurement of Welding Services from L&H Welding (Event No. 6980)
Strategic Priority Infrastructure
Description Grayson Stadium has a long history here in Savannah. Originally built in 1926, then renovated and reconstructed in 1941, this stadium has hosted baseball legends such as Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Hank Aaron, Ty Cobb, and Jackie Robinson. This 93 years old facility requires the City to perform routine inspections that help staff identify deferred maintenance items. During this year's pre-season inspection, staff found needed repairs they deemed necessary for the successful operations of Grayson Stadium. The normal procurement process does not allow sufficient time to order materials, and complete the necessary maintenance items prior to the beginning of the high school, college, and Savannah Banana's season. This notification of emergency procurement of welding services from L&H Welding in the amount of $46,730.00. The welding services will include, but not limited to: the fabrication and installation of brackets to the bleachers in Grayson Stadium and will fabricate and install a new handicapped rail along the third base line as well as new hand rails on all concourse steps leading up to the Grandstand. About 14% of the bleacher brackets need to be repaired and re-fabricated before the start of the season.
