The City of Savannah, in collaboration with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), is planning a road widening and improvement project along Delesseps Avenue between Waters and Skidaway Avenues.  The project will add sidewalks & bike lanes, and improve drainage.  Along this corridor, privately-owned rights-of-way and permanent easements will need to be acquired by the City for the project. In total, there are one hundred twenty (120) affected parcels. City staff are the process of making offers and negotiating in good faith with owners. In the event parties cannot reach agreement on purchase price, or are unable to complete a traditional transaction due to title issues, staff is seeking authorization to use the governmental power of eminent domain to acquire needed property for the right-of-way project.
