Title 24. Motion to Enter an Intergovernmental Agreement with Chatham County to Continue the End Gun Violence Program (Event No. 6929)
Strategic Priority Public Safety
Description Recommend approval to enter an intergovernmental agreement with Chatham County, Georgia to continue the End Gun Violence Program in the estimated amount of $97,250.00. This program has a proven track record of benefits including active participation by and engagement from the District Attorney and community stakeholders. The program facilitates broad stakeholder involvement, which serves to enhance and hone violent crime reduction strategies. The End Gun Violence Program’s stated objective is to realize a reduction of no less than 10% in group, gang, and gun-related shootings and homicides within targeted regions thereby making Savannah and its citizens safer. Reduction in violent crimes is among the highest of priorities in the City’s Strategic Plan (Goal 1.2). Between 2017 and 2018, the End Gun Violence Program played a vital role in the 27% reduction in gang-related homicides and the 37% decline in gang-related, non-fatal shootings. Continuation of this program is expected to assist in this downward trend. No DBE goal was assigned to this event as it is a sole source procurement. The contract term shall be from January 1, 2019 through December 31, 2019.
