Title 53. Resolution Imposing a Temporary Stay for 90 Days on the Issuance of Certain Alcoholic Beverage Licenses Within Certain Portions of the 5th Aldermanic District
Strategic Priority Neighborhood Revitalization
Description District 5 Alderwoman Dr. Estella Shabazz has requested a temporary stay on the issuance of new alcoholic beverage licenses submitted by restaurant owners/operators within portions of District 5 to allow for the establishment of reasonable and ascertainable standards for the regulation and control of alcoholic beverages in a manner designed to promote the health, safety and general welfare of the community. Alderwoman Shabazz believes the continued issuance of new licenses to restaurant owners/operators will present a condition at variance with the purpose and intent of the Alcoholic Beverage Ordinance. The 90-day temporary stay would apply to the area situated within these boundaries: Bounded on the north by the centerlines of Victory Drive and Ogeechee Road (U.S. Highway 80); on the west and south by the centerline of Interstate 516 (Lynes Parkway); on the east by the centerline of Bull Street to Victory Drive (U.S. Highway 80). During the 90-day stay, the City Manager will direct staff to research and propose revisions to the Code of Ordinances to address this request.
