Description Recommend approval to renew an annual contract for scrap metal recycling with Southern Metal Recycling, Inc. (Savannah, GA)(B). Under this contract, the contractor will pay the City of Savannah $105 per ton of scrap metal purchased. The contract will allow for the purchase and removal of certain scrap metals, such as old appliances, commonly referred to as white goods, and other assorted scrap metal received at the Dean Forest Road Landfill and other City facilities. The City sold 590 tons of scrap metal to the subject market in 2020 generating $62,288 in revenue. The materials included items directly hauled to convenience centers by residents and items generated through City operations, particularly unserviceable commercial refuse containers. The original contract was bid and approved by Council on November 7, 2019. This is the first of three renewal options available. (B) Indicates local, non-DBE owned business. | |
