Description

This final project closeout modification is for the renovation of the Waters Avenue Shopping Center, which now houses the Savannah Police Department's Savannah Impact Program (SIP) with Johnson-Laux Construction in the amount of $73,613. The Savannah Impact Program (SIP) building renovation project, which encompassed the approximately 7,400 square foot former, It's Amazing, tenant space at 2005 Waters Avenue, is now substantially complete. The renovation included various essential upgrades such as asbestos abatement and disposal, replacement of the storefront, windows, flooring, ceilings, lighting, electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, IT, and security systems. The resulting space now consists of offices, a break room, a squad room, conference rooms, two education rooms (doubling as community rooms), and an additional restroom. The final project closeout modification entails replacing the roof over the Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement (ONSE), an area that was not included in the original contract. The ONSE office was previously a community room that received minimal roof repair work during its construction in 2015. However, the occurrence of increasing leaks in the ONSE office throughout 2022 has necessitated the installation of a new roof. The additional work required for this final closeout modification aims to match the roof of the SIP office.

The original contract was approved by City Council on February 24, 2022, in the amount of $1,755,364.97. The total amount of this contract including this modification is $1,828,977.94.
