Title 14. Motion to Adopt Resolution Calling for Election to Allow the Sale of Alcoholic Beverages on Premises Beginning at 11 a.m. on Sundays
Strategic Priority Good Government
Description The Georgia General Assembly has enacted legislation (O.C.G.A. §3-3-7 (j.1)) authorizing the City to permit and regulate the sale of alcoholic beverages for consumption on premises beginning at 11 a.m. on Sundays, if such provision is approved in a referendum by City voters during an election. Currently, City Ordinance allows the consumption of alcohol on premises beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Sundays. In order to place the question of extended Sunday hours for alcohol consumption on premises, the City must pass a resolution and forward a certified copy to the Elections Superintendent for placing on the ballot. If approved by Council, the Elections Superintendent will be directed to place the following question on the November 6, 2018 Election Ballot: Shall the governing authority of THE CITY OF SAVANNAH be authorized to permit and regulate Sunday sales of distilled spirits or alcoholic beverages for beverage purposes by the drink from 11:00 A.M. to 12:30 P.M.” ( ) YES ( ) NO
