Recommend approval to procure liquid scintillation counter from Perkin Elmer Health Sciences in the amount of $64,545.19.  The liquid scintillation counter will be used by the Public Works and Water Resources Department to measure the amount of Tritium in the drinking water.  Tritium is a radioactive byproduct of nuclear power generation and is released into the Savannah River by both the Savannah River Site and Plant Votgle power plants.

This project was not identified as an SBE project because the requirement of three certified SBEs could not be met at the time this bid was released.
