Title

Strategic Priority
Good Government
Description

The City of Savannah's operations are organized into distinct service centers, each comprised of departments, divisions and units, and managed by Chiefs who report to the City Manager. Through 2023, the City organization included six Service Centers: Community Services, Fire, Infrastructure and Development, Municipal Operations, Police, and Strategic Initiatives. After careful analysis, it was determined that some realignment would help the organization take stronger action on City Council's strategic priorities and improve service delivery. Two new service centers were created, and some departments were realigned beneath this new structure.

Beginning in 2024, the City organization was aligned under eight service centers:

  • Community Services
  • Fire
  • Government Operations
  • Information & Public Affairs
  • Management Services
  • Planning & Economic Development
  • Police
  • Water Resources

This ordinance will amend Division II of the Code of the City of Savannah, Part 2, Government and Administration, Chapter 3, General Administration, Article B, Departmental Organization, Section 2-3041, Bureaus Enumerated, to comport with the new City organizational structure, to provide for effective dates, and to repeal all ordinances in conflict herewith.
