Description
Recommend approval to award a construction contract for Live Oak Streetscape Improvements from Johnson and Laux Construction in the amount of $198,485.86. These services will be used by the Public Works Water Resources Department for the installation of streetscape improvements for 3 blocks of Live Oak Street. This project includes pavement widening, rolled cure and gutter, lane aprons, driveway replacement, minor storm improvements, and necessary demolition and tree removal. This will also reduce standing water along the street and create a wider and safer street.
This is a sole source because it is the City’s intention to move quickly to expedite the streetscape improvements for the 3 blocks of Live Oak Street. As a result, the State of Georgia’s job order contractor will be used to perform this project to meet time constraints and City ordinance requirements. The State of Georgia’s job order contract is considered a convenience contract that is available to all State, City, and County public entities. The purpose of this contract is to provide multi-traded general construction services to accomplish small to medium sized projects for repair, alteration, modernization, rehabilitation, and minor new construction to infrastructure, buildings, structures, or other real property.
This project was given a 20% DBE goal with at least 10% of that goal being met with an LDBE. The recommended vendor submitted participation in the amount of 8% at the prime level and 20% at the subcontractor level using E&D ContractingA
