22. Authorize the City Manager to Accept a WorkSource Sector Partnerships Grant Award in the Amount of $135,680. The award will be used to develop regional sector partnerships that will work to understand and act on the needs of key regional industries. The City serves as the fiduciary agent for the ten-county region.

Description

The City of Savannah has received a “Statement of Grant Award” through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act for a WorkSource Sector Partnerships grant in the amount of $135,680 from the Technical College System of Georgia, Office of Workforce Development to be administered by WorkSource Coastal. These funds will be used to develop sector partnerships throughout the 10-county Coastal region that will work to understand and act on the needs of key regional industries by engaging businesses and informing them of educational and workforce development efforts at the regional level. Funds will be used to host summits and workshops that will focus on identifying barriers, introducing effective resources, connecting individuals to training and employment opportunities, and engaging industry leaders and subject matter experts. The grant period is June 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023. The WorkSource Sector Partnship grant will serve Bryan, Bulloch, Camden, Chatham, Effingham, Glynn, Liberty, Long, McIntosh and Screven counties. 

 

Pursuant to the WorkSource Coastal Consortium Agreement, the City of Savannah serves as the fiduciary agent for the ten-county region and, as such, City Council approval and authorization for the City Manager to receive grant funding and enter into grant administration agreements is necessary in accordance with the City of Savannah's procurement policies and procedures.
