This contract is for the procurement of one-ton chlorine cylinders from JCI Jones Chemicals in an amount not to exceed $98,000. The one-ton chlorine cylinders will be used by the Water Reclamation Department to disinfect drinking water and wastewater effluent. Since 1947, chlorine has been used for the disinfection of drinking water by reducing microbial contamination and potential disease, making it safe for consumption. Failure to disinfect the water will result in a potential risk for disease to the exposed population, contamination for irrigation purposes, streams, and consumption from the tap.

JCI Jones Chemical is not the lowest bidder; however, JCI Jones Chemical was able to furnish chlorine under an emergency circumstance. The original contracted vendor withheld shipment and did not provide proper notification to the City of the timeline prescribed for a rate increase per contract. This proposal was advertised, opened, and reviewed. This contract has (4) four renewal options. Delivery: As needed. Terms: Net 30 days.
