Description

The Savannah Airport Commission has issued a Request for Quotations (RFQ 2024-0017) for the procurement and installation of one (1) 250kW South Vault Diesel Emergency Generator. The project includes integrating automatic transfer switches, circuit breaker panels, and control panels to enhance system efficiency and reliability during emergencies. The primary goal is to ensure there is an uninterrupted power supply for the airfield lighting system, especially critical during severe weather events such as hurricanes.

The existing generator is now 26 years old and is being replaced to improve reliability and energy efficiency. Additionally, the bid proposal includes an option for installing an external power tie-in, which would allow hooking up an external generator to bypass the emergency generator in case of failure. This dual-generator setup enhances redundancy and further ensures continuity of operations during emergencies. This is a budgeted item. Five (5) bids were received.
