Recommend approval to award an annual contract for patrol rifles for Savannah Police Department from Dana Safety Company in the amount of $73,500.  This contract will be used by the Savannah Police Department to give officers equal firepower for the ability to more effectively perform their sworn duty to protect the citizens and people of the City of Savannah from the most violent and dangerous criminals.  Rifles also allow the officers to make more accurate distance shots; therefore, reducing the liability and reducing the number of total shots fired during an armed encounter.

This project was not identified as an SBE project because the requirement of three certified SBEs could not be met at the time this bid was released.
