Description
The Georgia Ports Authority is constructing the Mason Mega Rail Terminal at the Port of Savannah, which will double the Port's rail capacity on the property. As part of the project, a new rail bed will run over a 48-inch-diameter water main serving Savannah's Industrial and Domestic water customers. Under terms of the City's easement through the Ports property, the City is responsible for costs related to protection and relocation of City utilities.
This proposed water and sewer agreement specifies that the City will reimburse the Georgia Ports in an amount not to exceed $1.5 million for the actual costs of design and construction of protective measures to prevent impacts to this vital water infrastructure.
