The Savannah Airport Commission has made an emergency purchase for replacement of SAC Perimeter Gate 20A from Brewer Technology Solutions, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $50,000.

On Monday, July 1, 2019, the Commission staff recommended approval of an emergency purchase to replace SAC Perimeter Gate 20A. This emergency purchase was ratified at the July 10, 2019, Commission meeting.

Gate 20A is the airport’s most critical vehicular and emergency security access gate, as it serves as the primary entrance and exit to the secured area of the airport. This gate is essential for emergency access, fueling access,  air operations area (AOA) security, and normal day-to-day operations. The gate was damaged on Saturday, June 29, 2019, due to striking a tenant ground service equipment box truck. This collision caused the gate to become bowed, which broke the structural joint welds. Staff assessed the gate following the incident and determined it was damaged beyond repair. Due to the existing cantilever structure, the replacement gate is the exact model as the existing gate. Brewer Technology is the original installer and sole source provider of the existing gate and hardware in the Savannah market.
