The special called meeting was held at 6:03 p.m., in Council Chambers.  Mayor Johnson called the meeting to order.

Alderwoman Carolyn H. Bell, At-Large, Post 1

Alderwoman Bernetta B. Lanier, District 1

Alderman Detric Leggett, District  2

Alderwoman Linda Wilder-Bryan, District 3 - Vice Chair

Alderman Nick Palumbo, District 4 - Chairman

Alderman Kurtis Purtee, District 6

ABSENT:

Alderwoman Alicia Miller Blakely, At-Large, Post 2

Alderwoman Dr. Estella Edwards Shabazz, District 5 - Mayor Pro Tem

Mayor Johnson read a prepared statement regarding the setting of a millage rate, and it's impact to property owners within the city/state.

Mayor Johnson recognized SCCPSS Board Chairman Roger Moss for being present now and earlier today during the 10 a.m. millage rate public hearing.

Mayor Johnson declared the public hearing open.

Speaker(s):

• John Collier - Asked a question regarding the purpose of the public hearing for the millage rate, if taxes are not being raised.  He also expressed his desire for the Civic Center to be sold, and be through with it, rather than tearing it down.

Written comment(s) received:

• Holly Shaw and Ron Weaver - OPPOSED

There was no action taken during the Special Meeting (millage rate public hearing).

Mayor Johnson adjourned the millage rate public hearing at 6:06 p.m.
