SFD will use this modification to ensure that all members always have a clean set of personal protective equipment after being exposed to harmful carcinogens and to reduce their cancer risk associated with firefighting, the City of Savannah provides each member with two sets of gear. | Description Contract Modification No. 2 is for Protective Equipment for SFD with Bennett Fire in the amount of $300,000. This modification is needed due to price increases, staffing growth, and the amount of equipment issued. To ensure that all members always have a clean set of personal protective equipment after being exposed to harmful carcinogens and to reduce their cancer risk associated with firefighting, the City of Savannah provides each member with two sets of gear. The existing funding under the approved contract, given current market conditions, does not meet the requirements for a complete recruit or lateral class. With equipment expiring yearly and replacement stock needed due to damages, we recommend approval for this adjustment. This event was approved in Council May 26th, 2022, in the amount of $160,000. Modification No. 1 was approved in the amount of $50,000 on May 23rd, 2023, for an annual total of $210,000. With this modification, the new annual total will be $510,000. | |
