Recommend approval of Contract Amendment No. 1 for Georgetown Sewer Improvements with EMC Engineering Services, Inc. in the amount of $47,875.00.

The original contract was for the engineering design and construction overview of the Georgetown sewer improvements project. This amendment is needed to change the route of the force main from Brown Thrush Road to Little Neck Road.  Staff from the City and Chatham County met to discuss this project.  The County proposed that the force main be routed to Little Neck Road instead of Brown Thrush Road due to the following factors:

• Additional right of way acquisitions in progress;
• Installation and maintenance of the force main under the pavement along Brown Thrush Road would be significantly more expensive compared to installation and maintenance costs if installed in the grass shoulder of Little Neck Road.

This contract was originally approved by Council on June 21, 2018 in the amount of $201,099.50. The total amount of this contract to date, including this amendment, is $248,974.50.
