Title 8. A Proclamation Declaring February 17, 2023, as the Annual Arbor and Tree Planting Day in the City of Savannah.
Strategic Priority Good Government
Description The City will celebrate Arbor Day with tree planting at the Godley Station Elementary School located at 2135 Benton Boulevard, Savannah. Members of City Council, Park & Tree Commission members, and City Urban Forestry staff, will join with the Godley Station Elementary School teachers and students for an Arbor Day celebration and tree planting ceremony at 9:00 a.m., Friday, February 17th. The Arbor Day program will include a presentation of the City’s Arbor Day Proclamation. The City of Savannah has been named a Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation since 1985 in honor of its commitment to effective urban forest management. This is in recognition of the City meeting the program’s four requirements: a tree board or department, a tree-care ordinance, an annual community forestry budget of a minimum of $2 per capita and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.
