February 7, 2023 City Council Regular Meeting
Title
7. Appearance by and Recognition of St. Joseph’s/Candler Health System's Donation for the Savannah Affordable Housing Fund.
Strategic Priority
Neighborhood Revitalization
Description

St. Joseph’s/Candler Health System’s (SJCHS) President and CEO, Paul P. Hinchey, along with fellow SJCHS executives, are presenting a donation to the Savannah Affordable Housing Fund (SAHF). This marks the ninth year that SJCHS has donated to the SAHF with its first eight donations totaling $145,000. SJCHS donations provide their modest wage employees and team members with down payment and closing cost assistance required to leverage the financing necessary to become first time Savannah homeowners. This important partnership between SJCHS and the SAHF is consistent with partnerships and investments called for in the Housing Savannah Action Plan and serves as an exemplary model for other Savannah area employers interested in assisting their employees with housing options and needs. The non-profit Housing Savannah, Inc. was established in 2022 and raises funds for the SAHF. The SAHF is administered by the non-profit Community Housing Services Agency, Inc. (CHSA) with support from the City of Savannah Housing & Neighborhood Services Department.
