Title 32. Authorize the City Manager to Declare Surplus and Available for Sale a Portion of a City Service Road Fronting 10421 Abercorn Street. | |

Description JJL, Inc., (Vaden), has requested to have a portion of City Service Road (right of way) fronting 10421 Abercorn Street be declared as surplus and available for sale. Vaden requests 12,197 square feet (or .028 acres) of this service road to help facilitate a proposed expansion of the adjoining car dealership. Georgia Code provides authorization for municipalities to sell and convey right of way which is no longer needed for public road purposes to adjoining property owners at appraised value. An appraisal was performed which reports the appraised value of the requested right-of-way at $255,000. Vaden has agreed to pay the appraised value. The petition has been reviewed and approved by Development Services, Public Works and Water Resources, Greenscapes, Planning and Urban Design, Sanitation, Fire, and Real Estate Services. The Georgia Department of Transportation is requiring Vaden's expansion plans meet certain design and safety requirements. Staff also requests authorization for the City Manager to execute Quitclaim Deed and associated closing documents. | |
