Description

The City of Savannah (Petitioner/Owner), is requesting approval to formally name a newly constructed building located at 425 Pennsulvania Avenue (in conformance with the City Ordinance standards). This building is proposed to be named the “Pennsylvania Avenue Resource Center” to highlight the City of Savannah’s commitment to enhance the community's access to social, educational, economic and health resources that help to improve the lives of residents and increase opportunities for economic advancement and family well-being.

The two-story, 19,000 square foot facility includes staff offices, multipurpose rooms, training classrooms, a wellness suite, a fitness area, a computer lab, counseling room, art room, game room, and a commercial-style teaching kitchen. Construction is anticipated to be complete in April of 2019, followed by full occupancy in May of 2019.  The proposed name of the building meets the City Ordinance standards (Section 4-1102).

The Chatham-Savannah Historic Sites and Monuments Commission recommended approval at their regularly scheduled meeting on February 7, 2019.
