Description
The Savannah Airport Commission recommends approval of an engagement letter with Dentons US, LLC. for legal services in obtaining certification for the Savannah / Hilton Head International Airport under the Safety Act of 2002. The Safety Act of 2002, adopted after the 9/11 attacks, provides for a limitation of liability for businesses which provide Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technologies, and which obtain certification from the Department of Homeland Security. Certified entities may have their legal liability in the event of a future terror attack limited to the amount of their insurance coverage per agreement with the Department of Homeland Security and may gain substantial other legal liability protections. There is an extensive process for qualification. The international law firm Dentons, US, LLC, which has an Atlanta office, offers the legal services necessary to obtain this certification, and is currently working to obtain certifications for other airports in the region.
