Recommend approval to execute a deductive Final Project Close-out Amendment for Johnson-Laux^(A) in the amount of -$2,620.13 (deduct) for the Cedar Street Streetscape Improvement Project.

The Cedar Street Streetscape Improvement Project included an ADA compliant sidewalk, new curb and gutter and concrete lane aprons on both sides of the street, stamped concrete crosswalks, traffic signs, landscaping, minor drainage modifications and two blocks of street repair/resurfacing.  This work was located in the Edgemere-Sackville neighborhoods along Cedar Street from DeLesseps Avenue to the 52nd Street Lane and was substantially completed in the first quarter of 2020.  The final project punchlist item, which was for the acquisition of property easement, was recently completed. The Easement Agreement was approved by Council on December 22, 2020. 

The original contract was procured using the State of Georgia Job Order Contractor and was initially approved by Council on April 11, 2019 in the amount of  $727,528.57. The project scope was amended to include replacement of approximately 98-feet of roadway to alter the grade of the street and to ensure proper drainage and safer vehicle travel at a cost of $24,970.67.  The amendment was approved by Council on September 12, 2019.  A second amendment included an additional 17-feet of 15” storm line and a credit for concrete lane aprons installed by City crews prior to the start of the job at a deduction of $215.58. This amendment was approved by Council on January 16, 2020.  

This final amendment is for the Contractor’s share of a sewer lateral repair made by a City annual contractor, a deduction of $2,620.13.  This issue did not reveal itself until after the second contract amendment, which was intended to be the final.

The final contract amount including all Amendments is $749,663.53.
