Strategic Priority Good Government
Description Resolution to enact Article B. Major Special Events of Chapter 6, Special Events, of Part 3, Public Safety, of Division II of the Code of the City of Savannah for the dates of Friday, March 15, 2024, Saturday, March 16, 2024, and Sunday, March 17, 2024. The enactment of the Major Special Events ordinance facilitates the establishment of specific zones in which additional rules apply during the Saint Patrick's Day celebration. In keeping with the modifications that were enacted in 2022, the Major Special Event Ordinance states: The City of Savannah will not issue any out-of-town motorcoach parking permits in the "To Go Cup Zone" or any designated Control Zone during a Major Special Event enacted by the Mayor and Aldermen. This provision does not apply to local transportation service companies that provide shuttle services. These companies must register with the City of Savannah and will be required to provide, at a minimum, routes, pick up/drop off locations, and times. On March 16, 2024 at 10AM until 2AM on Sunday, March 17, 2024, the to-go cup zone shall be extended as follows, unless the Mayor and Aldermen specifically defines otherwise: the To-Go Cup zone shall be that area bounded on the north by the Savannah River, on the west by the centerline of the Talmadge Memorial Bridge extended south on West Boundary Street to West Oglethorpe Avenue, extended east on West Oglethorpe Avenue to Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, extended south on Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard to Victory Drive, and on the south by Victory Drive and extended east to the Truman Parkway, and on the east by Truman Parkway extending north to the Savannah River. The City of Savannah will not issue any permits for private activities on the public rights-of-way, including but not limited to, outdoor entertainment and alcohol sales within the "To Go Cup Zone" or any designated Control Zone during a Major Special Event enacted by the Mayor and Aldermen.
