Description Recommend approval of Contract Modification No.1 for heavy equipment rental with Savannah River Utilities in the amount of $550,000. The original contract was for the rental of heavy duty equipment needed to perform central operations at the City’s landfills which are critical to permitting compliance. Heavy equipment rental is necessary when machinery and equipment is down for service or repair. The requested increase is based on historical trends over the past several years related to landfill growth, aging machinery, and operational improvements and maintenance. This modification is needed to increase the total amount of the contract based on the City’s projected needs for the duration of the contract term. The increase is expected to cover the additional 12 months remaining in the fiscal year 2020. The original contract was approved by Council on August 29, 2019 in the amount of $300,000. The total amount of the contract to date, including this modification, is $850,000.
