Description

This is for the purchase for a new emergency generator for Lift Station 7 to Cummins Power South in the amount of $34,244.

The existing emergency backup power generator at Lift Station 7 has failed and is beyond repair. The generator needs to be replaced in case of a power outage. The generator will allow the lift station to continue to convey sewage to the treatment plant, preventing sanitary sewer overflows or environmental and public health issues.

The plant's National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit requires each plant to have a backup power source in the event of an emergency. This purchase is critical and will ensure continuity of operations for Lift Staton 7.

This purchase will be made using the Sourcewell Cooperative Contract No. 120617-CMM. The contract expires on January 29, 2023. The City of Savannah’s purchasing ordinance Section 2-4152 authorizes the use of cooperative purchasing agreements.
