Description A component of the Savannah Shines initiative in the Edgemere/Sackville neighborhood was improvement of sidewalks along Cedar Street. The contractor hired to perform the work, Johnson Laux, accidently constructed a portion of sidewalk and a footbridge upon private property located at 1301 E 55th Street. Since public improvements are now located on private property, an easement totaling 261 square feet (SF), or 0.006 acres, is required along the western edge of 1301 E 55th St. Fair market value, as determined by a third party, MAI-designated appraiser is $800. The City and Property Owner have agreed to a purchase price of $1,200 for the required easement. Johnson Laux has agreed to reimburse the City for all costs associated with this easement, including purchase price, appraisal, and legal fees. Further request authorization for the City Manager to execute any associated closing documents. | |
