Title Motion to Award Construction Contract for Retaining Wall Repairs to Midwest Maintenance, Inc. (Event No. 5469)
Description Recommend approval to award a construction contract to Midwest Maintenance, Inc in the amount of $78,000.00. These services will be used for the repair of the retaining wall along Lousiville Road at the Visitor Center. The Lousiville Road retaining wall has been damaged from excess weight by the train cars that sat adjacent to it. The train cars have been moved to the Railroad Museum and the wall can now be repaired. The current wall is leaning and has a gap from a previous collapse. This project will install a new footing to support the wall, reconstruct the arch in the collapsed area, and replumb a portion of the wall. The contractor is required to salvage as many bricks as possible for reuse in the project. Though the original bid was $138,460.00, this project has been value engineered and the new cost of $78,000.00 is being recommended.
