The carpet located on the ramp leading to and from the checkpoint had a bad section which we were unable to repair, resulting in a safety concern. This carpet was replaced on an emergency basis due to safety concerns. The contractor advised that the demo and preparation of the floor was more extensive than first anticipated. Therefore, they requested an additional $2,800 from their original bid of $24,880. This project was a sole source purchase and installation because Eckard’s flooring Center is the only certified Tarkett installer within the Savannah area.
