Title 52. Motion to Procure Multi-Factor Authentication Licensing from DUO Security, Inc. (Event No. 6784)
Strategic Priority Public Safety
Description Recommend approval to procure licensing for DUO Access Edition and premier support from DUO Security, Inc. in the amount of $134,640.00. The Department of Information Technology (DoIT) will use this license for multi-factor authentication (MFA) that requires the user to enter a second form of validation in addition to a password at login. This is important to help protect against compromised users login credentials that would be used to exploit the City network and email system. Part of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s requirements for remote computer-aided design (CAD) access require MFA for remote access users. All police and fire staff that access CAD through air cards are considered remote access users and should require MFA. MFA helps protect against compromised users login credentials that would be used to exploit the records management systems that contain the Federal Bureau of Investigations’ Criminal Justice Information Services information, particularly criminal histories. This is a sole source because DUO Security is the only vendor to provide the DUO Security’s Two-Factor Authentication Solution, which is only sold and distributed by DUO Security.
